Wall Of Silence

The Institute for Public Safety, Crime and Justice (IPSCJ) and Office of Police and Crime Commissioner for Northamptonshire hosted the acclaimed Wall of Silence art exhibition at the University of Northampton throughout November 2016, in order to encourage discussions around the subject of child abuse and child sexual exploitation.

The highly acclaimed exhibition –  aimed at children aged 14 and over –  features images, stories and poems from sufferers of abuse and neglect, some of whom have died as a result of their suffering. Wall of Silence seeks to end the stigma of suffering sexual abuse and encourage survivors to speak out.

Ahead of the launch of the exhibition, the IPSCJ and Northants Police and Crime Commission hosted the Survivors and Victims Conference at the University’s Avenue Campus, which featured speakers such as Dr Mike Pierce, MBE, from the Southmead Project – creator of the Wall of Silence and Sue Crocombe, a survivor of child abuse.
